Coreopsis 'American Dream'. Also known as Tickseed, this hardy perennial features dark green, thin, fernlike foliage. The numerous flowers are rosy pink and daisy-like with a yellow center. One of the few coreopsis with pink flowers. Begins to bloom in June, cut back in early and late summer to extend the bloom season in to the fall.
Coreopsis are easy perennials to grow, rarely bothered by insects or disease. They are deer resistant. Tickseeds tolerate the hot summer sun, poor soil and short periods of dryness. A native to North America that has been recently bred into a number of colors. The flowers are great additions to fresh cut bouquets. A great plant for beginners and a standard of all butterfly gardens.
